Innovation series provides an excellent venue for hearing inspirational local and international speakers on innovation in technology and for networking with other innovators. In our business we have made many contacts leading to successful ventures. Innovation is about exploring new ideas and open collaboration. This event provides an ideal place for innovators to get started. Aside: I moved to Perth as a geologist during the nickel boom in the early 70’s. Perth at that time was coming alive. There was a buzz about the whole city as high energy people from diverse backgrounds and countries descended on the city. Innovation was to the fore and transformed Perth into a modern and wealthy city in a decade or so. Although I have travelled a lot since then it is not until now that I felt that same buzz in a city. Brisbane is fast becoming a significant centre of innovation and technology. One key aspect is “connectedness” - people feed off each others ideas and energy. The BTP is contributing to this buzz in a real way – people are forming teams, alliances and collaborative efforts that go beyond the constraints of conventional business.
