Presentation Synopsis

The Australian agricultural market is one of the most environmentally challenged markets in the world due to volatile weather patterns, poor soil nutrient conditions and a severe shortage of water for irrigation. At the same time, Australian agriculture faces an ever-increasing demand for affordable and high quality food, feed, fibre and energy crops and Bayer CropScience believes innovation is a key driver in dealing with these challenges. However, sustainable development is not just about addressing environmental challenges. It is about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. As such, sustainable development encompasses three key areas: economic growth, social equity and environmental protection. Bayer CropScience, by partnering with the world’s best research institutions, is actively addressing all three areas of sustainable development both globally and in Australia.
